Do I need a compression garment or can I just wear active wear?
Compression garments are engineered to provide constant and sustained levels of compression during the recovery process. They are also designed for long-term wear. Active wear is not designed for long term wear, nor is it designed to provide constant and sustained levels of compression.
Do I need more than one garment?
Generally you will be placed in a garment immediately after surgery and will be required to wear it for a lengthy period of time. This garment will need to be washed as fluids may soil the garment. For optimum results we recommend buying a second garment so when one is being washed you have an alternate garment to wear for continued compression.
What is a first stage garment?
First stage garments have zippers, and hook and eye closures for ease of application following your surgery.
What is a second stage garment?
Second stage garments are made smaller than the first stage garments. They are pull on type garments with a closed crotch and do not have any hook and eye closures or zippers.
Do ClearPoint Medical garments have an open-crotch design?
To provide constant and sustained levels of compression for continuous wear, our first stage garments have an open-crotch design to accommodate body elimination.
How will I know the size and style of the garment I need to purchase?
Finding a good fitting garment begins by discussing with our experienced team of representatives which garments will best suit your surgical needs. We will ask for your measurements to determine that each garment provides the right amount of compression for your body type.
How do I care for my garment?
We recommend the following guidelines for fabric care to ensure long lasting compression and comfort of your ClearPoint Medical garment:
· Hand wash in cold water using a mild detergent
· Cold water rinse and hang dry
· Do not machine wash
· Do not machine dry
· Do not use bleach
· Remove stains by rubbing baking soda, an environmentally friendly compound, on the area(s). Baking soda can also be used as an alternative to detergent.
